Keeping active, sharing the company of others and enjoying ourselves are vital ingredients of a healthy life.
Neighbourhood Schemes are local groups which are run by and for people over 50 and offer a range of activities and classes right in the heart of the community, with support from a dedicated team at Calderdale Council.
On this website you will find:

- Latest news – our live blog, where we post our news and events, as well as other articles which may be of interest
- Your local group - contact details and a summary of activities

More information about Neighbourhood Schemes
Fully-fledged Neighbourhood Schemes now run themselves in Todmorden, Sowerby Bridge/Sowerby, Pellon and Central Halifax, and there are smaller groups running classes in Elland, Rastrick, Bailiff Bridge and Upper Edge. These are independent community groups and they offer all kinds of activities, such as art classes, computing, exercise, dancing, Tai Chi, trips, craft workshops, singing and much more. For infomation about these groups, click here.
New groups are developing in Southowram/Bank Top and Illingworth/Bradshaw, as well as an Asian women’s network which we hope will spread Calderdale-wide. Contact our team for details of these groups, or see the What’s On calendar for the programme.
As well as promoting these existing groups to new participants, we are also on the lookout for volunteers who would like to help to get these new schemes off the ground, and we are always interested in hearing your suggestions.
