Free Film Club at King Cross Library – starts 24 August

  • 24th August, 5.30 pm: Library 1st Birthday showing.
    A teatime programme of short films of Halifax and Yorkshire, from Halifax Cine and Video Club’s archives – followed by coffee, cake and a chance to share memories of King Cross in days gone by. Presented by Ernest Jennings – 2 hours.
  • 31st August, 2 pm: World Cinema Film Club
    The Counterfeiters (Die Falscher) is the gripping true story of the largest counterfeiting operation in history, set up by the Nazis in 1936.
    In German with English subtitles. Directed by Stephan Rudowitsky, 1 hour 38 mins. Certificate 15.
  • 5th October 2 pm: World Cinema Film Club
    Like Water for Chocolate (Como aqua para chocolate) is something of a world cinema classic – a mexican love story with true heart, and fresh on every viewing.
    In Spanish with English subtitles. Directed by Alfonso Arau. 1 hour 45 mins. Certificate 15.

Films to be shown later in 2011 will be discussed after each showing, but we always welcome suggestions for future titles.

Seating for the films is limited, you will need to book a ticket – either by ‘phone or in person from King Cross Library. Refreshments are available at all showings for a small charge.
