Planning the future of your neighbourhood: FREE whole day seminar on 29 March

You may have heard about the Government’s Neighbourhood Plans initiative – part of the Localism Agenda. This presents both an opportunity and a challenge for residents.

On the one hand, Neighbourhood Plans provide local communities with the chance to shape their areas in the way they want (subject to certain requirements) and in a form that becomes a statutory part of the Council’s Local Development Framework, i.e. a plan with teeth. On the other hand, such plans involve quite complex processes, together with considerable work and commitment on the part of local communities to make them a reality.

In order to help Calderdale’s communities unpick Neighbourhood Plans, understand them better and work out whether they want to go ahead and do one, Planning Aid England is running a free, day-long ‘Are You Neighbourhood Plan Fit’ seminar on Thursday 29 March 2012, 10am – 4pm at Heath training Centre Halifax.

Places are limited, so please book early. If we have too many people for too few places, we will run another session at a later date. Please note that priority will be given to those wishing to attend as a resident of Calderdale (rather than in a work capacity).

Please email to register your interest in this event or ring Liz Broadley on 01422 255402. Click here… to read more about the Government’s Neighbourhood Plans initiative
