Southowram Over Fifties’ Activities (SOFA) Go Independent

On Friday 30th March the Neighbourhood Scheme group SOFA became an independent group. After only 9 months of being together the steering group took over the running of SOFA. Members had been paying £2.50 for each activity  attended and as a start up grant 50% of monies paid were reimbursed. As a cabinet member for Adult Health and Social Care and also as one of the ward Cllr’s Cllr Bob Metcalf kindly agreed to hand over the cheque which totalled £1700.

The group run activities on Monday afternoon from Southowram community centre which includes an art group, Tal Chi and chess and Thursday afternoons from St Ann in the Grove community rooms which includes New age Kurling, dancing and table tennis.
