The Illingworth Gaol building will be open to the public on Saturday 13 September and Sunday 14 September, from 12pm to 4pm.
Visitors can see the double (two seater) stocks dated 1697 and the interior of the 1823 Illingworth Gaol. Hear some true stories of crimes committed and the prisoners held in the Gaol and feel what it would have been like to have been imprisoned here.
There’ll also be information on how the Trust plans to restore the Gaol together with the adjacent early Co-operative store (1863)
A variety of items will be on sale, including pictures, key rings, fridge magnets, coasters and Christmas Cards, designed by a local artist.
