Age UK Todmorden Will Making Month – April 2016

Age-UK-Todmorden-Logo-RGBAge UK Todmorden are holding a Will Making Month in April 2016 with the help of local solicitors to encourage more people to make their will.

Having a Will is the best way to ensure that your wishes are carried out after your death.

Research shows that around two-thirds of people haven’t got round to writing a will yet.

By writing a will you can ensure there is adequate financial provision for your family and your estate will be divided as you want.

If you die without a Will (called ‘intestate’), there are strict guidelines that must be followed. Don’t assume a spouse automatically will collect everything: partners may get nothing, and even a spouse may not get a significant slice of the estate.

For your own peace of mind and to avoid undue stress for your loved ones, making a will is an important step. It is also important to have a properly qualified professional to write your Will – the internet is full of information that can be downloaded for next to nothing – but equally full of horror stories where wills have not been made correctly.

Make your will this April and help Age UK Todmorden provide services and support for all our older people.

Local solicitors are donating their time and expertise to write wills for Age UK Todmorden supporters. They are:

Jayne Brearley & Co Solicitors: Jayne Brearley 01706 812926

Wrigley Claydon Solicitors Incorporating Douglas Wilson: Emma Piszkalo and Godfrey Pickles 01706 815712

All you have to do is contact a solicitor from the list to make an appointment between 1st and 30th April 2016. Please say you are calling about Age UK Todmorden ‘Make a Will’ month. All we ask is that you make a suggested donation of £60 per person or £100 per couple. This offer is open to anyone aged 50+, covers straight forward wills and does not include home visits.

If you would like to speak to someone at Age UK Todmorden about our Will Making Month, please contact us on 01706 817926, Monday to Friday 10am to 12 noon

Do you have what it takes to manage a small charity in Todmorden? Do you have skills in people management, charity and voluntary sector management experience or an understanding of the needs of older people and how to plan and deliver services to meet their needs? Or do you have transferable skills such as fundraising or financial management from previous roles or life experiences that you would like to contribute?

Age UK Todmorden is looking for new people with ideas, enthusiasm and some time on their hands to join their Board of Trustees and share some of the responsibility of managing the charity and supporting the work of the paid staff and volunteers.
