Volunteers’ Week Roadshow

Volunteers week 2014

Volunteers’ Week is an annual event which takes place on 1-7 June. It celebrates the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK. In Calderdale the Volunteer Centre has organised a ‘Volunteering Roadshow’ with promotional stalls at a number of locations across the Borough. On Monday/Tuesday 2nd/3rd June 10-3.30pm it will have a promotional stall next to Marks & Spencer in The Woolshops, Halifax. The roadshow is at Elland Market on 6th June (10-2pm) and Todmorden Market on Thursday 12th June 830-230pm

Citizens Advice Bureau is starting a new advice drop-in at Keighley Road Surgery, Illingworth for patients on a Tuesday morning, 9.30am – 12.30pm.

Beechwood Road Library open day

Come along to Beechwood Road Library on Saturday 15 September for the launch of its new-look community area, offering:

  • Weekly internet taster sessions
  • Monthly art and craft clubs
  • Reader’s group display and promotion by members
  • Permanent exhibition and photographs from Beechwood Road Local History Group
  • Monthly Enterprise Club, offering small business advice (from 13 Sept, 1.30–3pm)

There will also be an Illustrated talk on the history of Whitehill Allotments (at 11.30 am), with display and library stock, a stall by Over 50’s Local Activity Group about local activities in Illingworth and Bradshaw, an art exhibition by Lee Mount Art Group and free refreshments.

Upper Valley Relief Fund



Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) has set up a £10,000 Fund initially for voluntary organisations and individuals/families affected by the floods in the upper valley of Calderdale.
