Age UK Todmorden Looks for Leaders

Age-UK-Todmorden-Logo-RGB

Do you have what it takes to manage a small charity in Todmorden? Do you have skills in people management, charity and voluntary sector management experience or an understanding of the needs of older people and how to plan and deliver services to meet their needs? Or do you have transferable skills such as fundraising or financial management from previous roles or life experiences that you would like to contribute?

Age UK Todmorden is looking for new people with ideas, enthusiasm and some time on their hands to join their Board of Trustees and share some of the responsibility of managing the charity and supporting the work of the paid staff and volunteers. Board members take part in regular trustee meetings, Annual General Meetings and are also required to attend training on an ad hoc basis to develop their skills.

Age UK Todmorden is a small local charity whose main aims are to support older people in Todmorden to access services, benefits advice and information. It is also one of the main providers of social activities in the town providing 3 lunch clubs a week, trips, social groups and regular coffee mornings and afternoon teas.

If anyone is interested in joining the Board or would like to find out more, Age UK Todmorden is holding a Trustees’ Open Day on Saturday 2 April from 1pm to 3pm at the Age UK Todmorden offices, 11 Burnley Road, Todmorden. Alternatively call 01706 817926 for more information.

Stepping through time ….

Would you like to get involved in the 2016 Hebden Bridge Arts Festival?

The theme of the Arts Festival is Trouser Town.

Marguerite Eccles is facilitating a multi-media community day, with displays, memorabilia, information, performances, music, storytelling, film and photographs on 29 June 2016.

It will be called Stepping Through Time…

She is particularly interested in the history of the mills and sewing shops in the region, and the people who worked in this industry.

She is also looking at the social scene of the 40s, 50s and 60s and is hoping to collect stories and memorabilia of dance hall days and courting.

If you would like to get involved by telling your story, creating or making something for a display, loaning some memorabilia – or in any other way – contact Marguerite on 07745 790490.

If you run or attend an activity group and would like your group to be involved please get in touch with Marguerite to talk about how your group would like to participate – you could put on your own dance performance, display work that you have been making, share memories through story-telling, show photographs from the time etc…

It should be a fantastic event and we’d love community groups to feature on the day!
