Marguerite is a community dance facillitator with over 25years experience of delivering movement workshops to adults and children with and without disabilities in the community.
She has a diploma in dance for personal and community development and in 2012  gained BA hons Dance and Education Studies degree.

APRIL EVENT POSTERS (1)-page-001

Stepping through time ….

Would you like to get involved in the 2016 Hebden Bridge Arts Festival?

The theme of the Arts Festival is Trouser Town.

Marguerite Eccles is facilitating a multi-media community day, with displays, memorabilia, information, performances, music, storytelling, film and photographs on 29 June 2016.

It will be called Stepping Through Time…

She is particularly interested in the history of the mills and sewing shops in the region, and the people who worked in this industry.

She is also looking at the social scene of the 40s, 50s and 60s and is hoping to collect stories and memorabilia of dance hall days and courting.

If you would like to get involved by telling your story, creating or making something for a display, loaning some memorabilia – or in any other way – contact Marguerite on 07745 790490.

If you run or attend an activity group and would like your group to be involved please get in touch with Marguerite to talk about how your group would like to participate – you could put on your own dance performance, display work that you have been making, share memories through story-telling, show photographs from the time etc…

It should be a fantastic event and we’d love community groups to feature on the day!

Cafe Culture Thursday 7 January 2016

We’re on folks… Cafe Culture is going ahead this Thursday, 7th January at 2.30pm. Come along to Hebden Town Hall for a brew, cake, relax and take an hour out of your day to hear Joan Hart give a heart-warming talk about her time as a Yorkshire Pit Nurse.

AT THE COALFACE: THE MEMOIR OF A YORKSHIRE PIT NURSE – Over 15 years Joan tended to injured miners underground, rescued men trapped in the pits, and provided support for them and their families during the bitter miners’ strike which stretched from March 1984 to 1985.

Free of charge at Hebden Town Hall (we’ll be in a room on the 2nd floor due to the Waterfront Hall being a hub for the flood support group – ask at reception for details. Wheelchair accessible).

Cafe Culture meets on the first Thursday on each month and brings you local speakers & local stories. For more information: 01422 417 373 /  helen@hbaf.co.ukJANUARY EVENT POSTERS (1)-page-001

Donations

Priorities: tinned rice pudding, tinned fruit, tinned potatoes, other tinned vegetables, tinned meals, pasta sauce, sweet and savoury sandwich fillings, coffee and tin openers.

They also need new underwear, socks, gloves, bath towels, waterproof boots, trainers, deodorant, shampoo, shower gel and washing up liquid.

They are trying to cut down on the large number of ‘throw-away’ carrier bags they use each week by giving people reusable shopping bags (e.g. bags for life) and asking them to bring them each time they visit the Drop-in.

The Drop-in is open for deliveries every Thursday between 9am-1pm and every Saturday morning between 9-11.30am. These are the times they need volunteers for the Drop-in. They also need people to help clean up after the doors close at 11.45am on Saturdays.

If you wish to help at all, please get in touch or visit them:
