Specialist consultants, dieticians and fitness experts are available to answer your questions on diet and dieting, obesity, nutrition, exercise, fat and health issues related to being over or under weight.

The clinic is in ‘forum’ format, and there is information on the front page helping you to understand how to use it. First of all you will need to register with TalkHealth – you can do this by clicking here. Once you are registered and logged in, you’ll have access to all of the information on the forums.

GupShup goes Creative – new programme of events for March – May

The Stroke Association Launch Lunch

The Stroke Association has initiated a project aiming to raise awareness of stroke and more importantly, highlight the risk factors of stroke to the local community within Calderdale especially those of South Asian origin.  The idea is to educate local people on what stroke actually is and how it can be minimised or prevented by understanding the causes and responding to them.

Launch Lunch event has been arranged on Thursday 15 March to promote the services on offer. At Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre, Halifax, 1pm – 3pm. The Mayor of Calderdale will be in attendance along with a number of partner organisations supporting the project.

Any organisations or groups wishing to participate in this free event by holding an information stall  should email shamsul.arafen@stroke.org.uk or call 07940 481932.

Stroke is a serious illness and is very high especially within the  local Asian community, therefore it is essential that local people access crucial information, advice and guidance, which is what this project is trying to achieve.

Please note that places are limited so get in touch soon to avoid disappointment.

Health Walks in Calderdale January‐March 2012

Health walks are a great way to be more active, improve your health and make new friends. They’re not about rambling, hiking or ‘power walking’ ‐ they’re just short led walks in your local area at your own pace.

All our walks are led by qualified, friendly walk leaders who will welcome you to the group and support you on your walk. Click here to download the programme as a PFD.

For any enquiries about Walk It Together please call 01422 281529 or email walkit@swyt.nhs.uk.

But, we will back (where have I heard that before) in early September, with a late celebration for Eid and the activities starting a week later. Watch this space for further details.
