Age UK ‘Bobble Day’
Winter months have a devastating impact on many older people and that’s why Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees is inviting you to join thousands of others across the UK raising money for Age UK’s Bobble Day on Friday 8th February 2013.
Any money that you raise will help Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees warm up our older people. We help by:
• Providing information guides and tips on how to stay warm in your home
• Providing thermometers, so older people know when to turn on your heating
• Offering benefits checks and advice about winter benefits
• Administering grants to those in need of winter warmth . Click here to find out more.
Get Involved:
Wear it Woolly
We are asking everyone to come to work, your local community venue or even school on Friday 8th February dressed in anything woolly. Be it a funny jumper, a sherpa hat or a colourful scarf. Each person pays £2 to take part, helping raise money and awareness. Every woolly item worn will help us Warm Up Calderdale and Kirklees and reach out to even more older people.
Warming Morning
Get Bobble Day off to a great start with a Warming Morning. Whether you serve up speciality teas, frothy coffee or hot chocolate with whipped cream, you can ensure your friends and families begin the day with a warm feeling inside. Why stop there? Give your guests home-baked cookies to dunk or serve up bacon butties for breakfast.
Do Bobble Day your own way
There are a whole host of different ways you can help us warm up Britain. So let your imagination run free.
If you would like to get involved contact Judith Churley at Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees on 01484 535994 or jchurley@acck.org.uk

Are you part of a local community group and need to raise some funds?
Community Foundation for Calderdale are offering support sessions for groups to join http://www.Localgiving.com and you just need to email us to find out more.
Having your group on Localgiving.com gives you a webpage that you can easily update, where you can ask for volunteers, and importantly ask for donations towards your project. Localgiving.com is specially designed for community groups – including Scouts and Guides, PTA‘s, Cricket or Football, Community Associations or Faith based community groups.
It allows you to collect donations from people online, and you can get the Gift Aid even if you are not a registered charity.
The support you can get locally includes training, one to one support and peer group learning, and we run promotions such as Match Funds or publicity opportunities.
Come and see for yourself. Localgiving.com will be at the VAC Funding Fair next week on Wednesday 29th February at the Elsie Whitely Centre. There will be a workshop in the afternoon and we‘ll be available to answer questions all day. Contact: Rachel Julian rachelj@cffc.co.uk or call Community Foundation for Calderdale on 01422 349700
