Fund Raiser Basic
24 September , 9.30-4.00 – Adult education Centre, Brighouse Practical and sustainable fundraising methods for funding small groups and projects. What’s out there and what’s suitable? Easy review and forward planning tool. Selling stuff, events, activities, networking and licences etc. Defining and nurturing individual and business donors. Ethical issues. Introduction to and effective use of Gift Aid.
Social Enterprise, Charity or Both?
25 September , 9.30-4.00 – Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre, Halifax Thinking about being a Company Limited by Guarantee but not sure what it means? What are the key differences to a Company Limited by Share? Want to do ‘charitable’ things? pay the Company Directors? Want to do some ‘Social Enterprise’ trading apply for charitable grants? Should your Company register as a CIC, a Charity or none of these things? Can a Charity also be a ‘Social Enterprise’? Need a Governing Document that works for you
Understand key advantages / disadvantages of various routes you could take. This course explores what goes into the Memorandum and Articles of Association for a Company and what the various implications may be.
Fund Raiser Plus (2 day course)
8 – 9 October, 9.30-4.00 – Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge
22 – 23 October, 9.30-4.00 – Brighouse Methodist Church, Brighouse Devise diverse funding strategies across the spectrum of funding and fundraising opportunities. This more in depth course builds upon material covered in the other courses, although it is not absolutely necessary to attend all of the other courses in order to benefit from FundRaiser Plus.

Volunteer Supervisors Network Re-launch (rebranded as Volunteer Managers Partnership)
Thursday 3 October, 9.30-4.15, Orange Box, Thomas Street, Halifax. Including free Leadership & Management Training for Volunteer Co-ordinators (funded by North Bank Forum (Sector Support Calderdale) and the Skills Enhancement Fund) to help you face new challenges, review how you work, manage change in your organisation and look to the future.
Managing Volunteers Workshop, 9.30-3pm
People Management – looking at leadership, performance management, effective teams, managing conflict, coaching, managing change and effective recruitment. We will look at how to build the participation of your volunteers for improved performance and personal development.
Marketing Skills taster session at 3pm
An introduction to marketing including marketing techniques and how to develop a marketing plan.
Refreshments provided. Bring your own lunch. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
This is a FREE training event but in order to secure a place you need to initially pay £25. Cheques made payable to ‘Succeed Training and Development’. This will be refunded to you by NBF once you have attended the training.

Free Mental Health First Aid Training
A Mental Health First Aid course will teach you to:
- Spot the early signs of a mental health problem
- Provide help on a first aid basis
- Help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
- Help stop a mental illness from getting worse
- Help someone recover faster
- Guide someone towards the right support
This is a 2 day workshop open to anyone who lives or works in Calderdale but may be particularly useful for anyone who comes into contact with vulnerable people.
On Thursday 1 August and Monday 5 August, 9.30am – 4.30pm
